In no way, shape or form am I saying that.
What I'm saying is that our technological movement (up to the 1930s) have been solely focussed on advancing functions of the body.
That changed in 1936 when mathematics started to consider how to replicate functions of mind and consciousness, with the view of advancing them.
We haven't got there yet because we still don't have a functional model of consciousness, and in fact we're only just getting to grips with the final pieces of 'the body puzzle' by using tools like fMRI to see just how the brain works and the LHC to see just how the universe works.
Anyone who tells you that there are functions of mind that can genuinely be replicated outside the human (or indeed certain animal) consciousness is a fraud or doesn't understand what they are actually saying. We simply don't know enough about it to even be able to define the terms of that argument.
BUT we are close to getting there and the fact that people are selling the idea that 'answers' can be calculated is evidence of that.
I call it the movement towards numbers and we see it every where. In automated transactions on the stock markets, in pilotless drones killing by algorithm, in pupil testing at school, in evidence-based policy making and many other worlds.

A nice little exercise in crowd-sourcing as an aesthetic with YouTube as media providing the 'notes' of a new musical instrument

Until today it was a community of one, though I do get the odd hit from some of the journalism search engines.
If you have an RSS reader set up go the the meta section in the side bar of the front page (http://metaversalmining.com) and hit 'Entries RSS'. That will, if you have an RSS reader installed, prompt you to add the feed from this site. Every time the reader finds an update it should automatically download it. I try and make sure that the full piece is displayed in the RSS feed so that you don't actually have to visit the site. None of this text stub malarkey.
You find out about it by asking me or inventing it yourself. I can't guarantee that I'll say anything interesting without prompting, or indeed with prompting.
I would say strap yourself in, but this is more <a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/i9pxgbxdWFE" rel="nofollow">teacups</a> than <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RufmSsOjbM8" rel="nofollow">rollercoaster</a> ;)

Morningside Analytics
http://morningside-analytics.com/

Sort of scary wen you think about it. Really interesting from several different perspectives. Technologically I want to know how ? I've asked but they haven't responded. I'm not surprised they have IP to protect.
Ethically, it opens the door to some really in-depth analyses of online behaviours that I need to have a proper think about. I will return to this in the main page.
I have no doubt that this sort of technology has been in widespread use within the security services for several years. I just wonder what making it commercially available means.
As someone with an online presence I can't complain that its infringing on my privacy because all the information that I put here becomes publicly visible, so why does this service make me feel nervous ?

Interesting Debate Mapping Application
http://debategraph.org/Default.aspx

I'm in two minds about this one. Its a really nice looking flash application, and built in response to a very real challenge i.e. understanding the value in multiplicity of open debate.
But I've had a play around and a look at the content and it sort of feeds one of its own questions. The issue of homophily (defined as mixing with like-minded people). I would tend to think that the people contributing to this site are already engaged in open debate. So how does this actually change anything ?

That said, its still a nice idea and very well built. Probably needs more users and more heated debate to really work. Sign up, have a go.
