A nice little exercise in crowd-sourcing as an aesthetic with YouTube as media providing the 'notes' of a new musical instrument

Morningside Analytics
http://morningside-analytics.com/

Sort of scary wen you think about it. Really interesting from several different perspectives. Technologically I want to know how ? I've asked but they haven't responded. I'm not surprised they have IP to protect.
Ethically, it opens the door to some really in-depth analyses of online behaviours that I need to have a proper think about. I will return to this in the main page.
I have no doubt that this sort of technology has been in widespread use within the security services for several years. I just wonder what making it commercially available means.
As someone with an online presence I can't complain that its infringing on my privacy because all the information that I put here becomes publicly visible, so why does this service make me feel nervous ?

Interesting Debate Mapping Application
http://debategraph.org/Default.aspx

I'm in two minds about this one. Its a really nice looking flash application, and built in response to a very real challenge i.e. understanding the value in multiplicity of open debate.
But I've had a play around and a look at the content and it sort of feeds one of its own questions. The issue of homophily (defined as mixing with like-minded people). I would tend to think that the people contributing to this site are already engaged in open debate. So how does this actually change anything ?

That said, its still a nice idea and very well built. Probably needs more users and more heated debate to really work. Sign up, have a go.
